Upcoming Trips
We plan trips both in the United States and abroad, some are just a few days and some longer. Sometimes we sleep in refugios or mountain inns and sometimes we sleep in tents. Details are below, hope you can join us!
Dolomites
September 3-11, 2026
Alta Via 1
Dolomites, Italy
About
On this trip we hike the Alta Via 1, a 120 km long-distance hiking trail that traverses the heart of the Dolomites. The trail takes hikers on a grand tour of this mountain range, following its spine from North to South. We spend 7 days on the trail, winding our way through rugged peaks, verdant meadows, and deep valleys.
Accommodations are small hotels for the first and last night and mountain refugios while on the trail. Rooms will be shared twins or bunk rooms depending on the layout of the refugio, bathrooms are shared and could have showers, depending on the rainfall and refugio. Breakfast and dinner are served family style and lunches will be either a boxed lunch prepared in the morning or a lunch at a refugio passed along the trail.
The Itinerary
The trip begins in the town of Dobbiaco, spending our first night in a hotel and then departing for the trail the following morning. We end the trip with a night in the town of Belluno, departing for the Venice airport the following day. We will fly in and out of Venice.
Hiker Profile
This trip is appropriate for women with moderate hiking experience and very good physical condition. Participants should be prepared to hike over steep, rocky, and sometimes exposed terrain and handle bad weather when needed. We will be hiking 8-10 hours a day for 7 consecutive days, covering up to 12 miles and gaining/losing up to 5,500ft in a day. We will carry packs weighing 15-20 pounds. This trip will be physically challenging! Packing lists and gear advice will be provided.
Cost
The trip will cost approximately $5500 to $7500, including all meals, accommodations, transportation, tips and flights.
Adirondacks
Fall 2026
High Peaks Region
Keene, NY
About
This weekend will focus on enjoying time in the wilderness and hiking one of the Adirondack 46 high peaks, most likely Mt Marcy or Mt Haystack. We will be spending Friday and Saturday nights in one of the “camps” at Johns Brook Lodge, a rustic cabin with bunks, a composting toilet, and propane lamps and stoves. These camps provide a great way to get into the backcountry and closer to the high peaks without having to sleep in a tent, worry about foul weather or carry a bear canister! We’ve stayed in this camp and it’s very cozy and comfortable.
The Itinerary
Friday: The Friday hike into the camp is 3.5 miles during which we will be carrying our personal items, a sleeping bag, and a portion of the group food. The trip will begin Friday at noon with arrival at the trailhead. We will hike to Johns Brook lodge Friday afternoon, eat dinner, and prepare for the next day.
Saturday: On Saturday we will hike a high peak with a daypack (lunch, snacks, water, and layers). If the weather forecast prevents summiting an exposed peak (Marcy or Haystack), we will hike Bigslide, a covered peak and another one of the 46 high peaks.
Sunday: Sunday will be a hike back out to the trailhead, again carrying a fuller pack. Arrival back at the parking lot is generally mid-day.
Hiker Profile
This trip is appropriate for women with moderate hiking experience and good physical condition. The hike into camp is a moderate 3.5 mile (@2.5 hours) and the hike up any high peak is a strenuous and rewarding 10-12 mile round trip (@8 hours). Participants should be prepared to hike over steep, rocky, and sometimes exposed terrain. Packing lists and gear advice will be provided.
